FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New York, September 8, 2015 – The New York Jazz Choreography Project is a celebration of jazz dance featuring original works by emerging and established choreographers. Audiences of all ages will be treated to dances in a variety of jazz styles from classic to contemporary and the chance to see the richness of this great American art form.
“We are proud that, since 2007 JCE has presented 86 choreographers and 611 dancers from the U.S., Japan, South Africa, and Germany,” say Artistic Directors Marian Hyun and Merete Muenter. “JCE fills a need especially in our economic climate, to support a little supported yet great American Art of Jazz Dance. We believe this vibrant art form is an important part of our country’s cultural heritage. We are also thrilled to report that our participating choreographers have included 21-year-old students, as well as the late, legendary 90-year-old Jazz Master Luigi, and all ages and stages of process in between. It is our hope that presenting these artists will give them motivation to continue to create new original Jazz Dance works.”
