Yoga Narada® develops mobility and flexibility in the body while refining coordination, strength and the control to pass freely from one movement to the next. Shapes and positions are not held in static poses to prevent a stiff or distorted idea of balance. Instead, exercises move fluidly from one to the next with the coordination of the breath for a greater sense of vigor and power but with ease and finesse. Although initially a highly specialized form of yoga for dancers, the principles of alignment found in Yoga Narada® make it a practice not only appropriate but also highly accessible for anyone!
Jim Phillips is a certified GYROTONIC® Trainer and Master Teacher of Yoga Narada® — originally known as Yoga for Dancers. He is in his 14th year on faculty at American Ballet Theatre’s Summer Intensive and has been a guest teacher for ABT’s JKO School. He was a master teacher for The Sports Club/LA at Rockefeller Center and has taught for the Martha Graham School, Reebok Sports Club, Fluid Fitness, Chelsea Movements, CLAY, The Harvard Club, Broadway Dance Center, NBC Network News Ad Sales and throughout Europe and North Africa. Jim holds a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre, additional studies in Opera, and Minors in Piano and Dance from Shorter College and is a member of Actors Equity Association. He has appeared on the New York stage, in regional theatre, and recital halls and cathedrals around the U.S. and Europe.
